Bags & Tags

This are the gift bags and matching tags we made for a holiday class. There are 4 sizes of bags all made using designer paper and ribbon. I also used several punches to make the decorative tags. Be sure to use Sticky Strip to get a sturdy bag.

You can actually make bags in any size, just be sure to measure carefully.




Directions for Gift Bags

Small Gift Bag
1. Start with 2 matching designer papers 7 X 7.
2. Lay both pieces together so outside design of bag is face-to-face
3. Score both pieces at 4-1/2”, 5-1/2”, 6-1/2”.
4. Fan fold starting with smallest fold going in.
5. Turn 1 piece of paper over so folds are on the left and the right with insides together.
6. Use Sticky Strip on smallest fold and attach to other sheet on both edges.
7. Flatten papers & score bottom at 1” - fold in and cut corners for tabs
8. From inside; put cardboard base (4-1/2”X2”) at bottom with SNAIL adhesive.
9. Fold bag for storage, creasing as it folds.
10. Punch holes in top using Crop-A-Dile for ribbon handles
11. Set eyelets for ribbon
12. Add coordinating ribbon and tie inside bag for handles.
13. Make matching tag of your choice and attach to bag.
14. Finished size is 4-1/2” X 5-3/4”


Wide Gift Bag
1. Start with 2 matching designer papers 12 X 7
2. Lay both pieces together so outside design of bag is face-to-face
3. Score both pieces on longs side at 8-1/2”, 10” and 11-1/2”
4. Fan fold starting with smallest fold going in.
5. Turn 1 piece of paper over so folds are on the left and the right with insides together.
6. Use Scallop Edge Punch on sciissors making wavy design on top before attaching.
7. Use Sticky Strip on small fold and attach to other sheet on both edges.
8. Flatten papers & score bottom at 1” - fold in and cut corners for tabs
9. From inside; put cardboard base (8-1/2” X 2-3/4”) at bottom with SNAIL adhesive.
10. Fold bag for storage, creasing as it folds.
11. Punch holes in top using Crop-A-Dile for ribbon handles or make paper handles from 2 strips of paper folded and attached together.
12. Set eyelets for ribbon or brads for paper handle
13. Add coordinating ribbon and tie inside bag for handles.
14. Make matching tag of your choice and attach to bag.
15. Finished size is 8-1/2” X 6”

Medium Gift Bag
1. Start with 2 matching designer papers 9-3/4 X 9-3/4
2. Lay both pieces together so outside design of bag is face-to-face
3. Score both pieces at 6”, 7-1/2”, and 9”
4. Fan fold starting with smallest fold going in.
5. Turn 1 piece of paper over so folds are on the left and the right with insides together.
6. Use Scallop Edge Punch on top before attaching.
7. Use Sticky Strip on small fold and attach to other sheet on both edges.
8. Flatten papers & score bottom at 1” - fold in and cut corners for tabs
9. From inside; put cardboard base (6” X 3”) at bottom with SNAIL adhesive.
10. Fold bag for storage, creasing as it folds.
11. Punch holes in top using Crop-A-Dile for ribbon handles
12. Set Jumbo eyelets for ribbon
13. Add coordinating ribbon and tie inside bag for handles.

Large Gift Bag

2. Lay both pieces together so outside design of bag is face-to-face
3. Score both pieces at 1/2”, 2-1/4” and 4”.
4. Fan fold starting with 1/2” fold going in.
5. Turn 1 piece of paper over so folds are on the left and the right with insides together.
6. Use Sticky Strip on 1/2” fold and attach to other sheet on both edges.
7. Flatten papers & score bottom at 1” - fold in and cut corners for tabs
8. From inside; put cardboard base (8”X 3-1/2”) at bottom with SNAIL adhesive.
9. Fold bag for storage, creasing as it folds.
10. Punch holes in top using Crop-A-Dile for ribbon handles
11. Set Jumbo eyelets for ribbon
12. Add coordinating ribbon and tie inside bag for handles.
13. Make matching tag of your choice and attach to bag.
14. Finished size is 8” X 11”
